Softronic Racing Plenum Kit and Tune UPs Power on Cayman S
The 2008 Porsche Cayman S is a Tiptronic that runs on 91octane. As soon as the car came here, we did a baseline on our Mustang Dyno. Our baseline run yielded 217rwhp and 197ft/lbs of torque. Our Stage 2 mods consisted of the Softronic Racing Plenum with ECU Flash and a complete exhaust system with catless race headers. The plenum kit uses a larger throttlebody to improve the airflow coming into the engine. To fully take advantage of this, Softronic does a custom ECU tune to alter the fuel and timing maps to account for the additional air flow. Like all normally aspirated vehicles, a good balanced exhaust system definitely helps out as well. Softronic alters the limits on the O2 sensors to not throw a CEL from this catless setup. With all the new mods on, we did a follow up dyno. With all other variables kept consistant, the car made 252rwhp and 217ft/lbs of torque. That is a 35rwhp and 20ft/lbs of torque gain. Typically there is a 10-15% drivetrain loss on the Mustang dyno and since this is a Tiptronic and on 91octane, the results would be even great with a 6spd on 93octane. Overall dramatic driveability improvement and much better sound!
Tires Break Lose in 3rd Gear! 997TT Flash
Another very happy Porsche 997 Turbo customer has flashed his ECU via the OBDII port with Softronic. We sent him his files within 24 hours of the read out and he was up and running. Quote from the customer, “We’re still pretty cold up here so had to be a bit careful, but found a dry stretch and— wow, big difference, tires kept breaking loose even in third gear! Overall drivability good, no issues at all, just more power. I need some decent weather to shake it down all the way, but the flash seems to have worked just fine.”
Thanks for the support!
A+ Customer Service on this 996 Turbo ECU Flash
Check out these pictures of our customer Mike and his Porsche 996 Turbo during the Softronic ECU Flash process. Mike dropped in the tune file along with a set of Agency Power diverter valves and silicone f-hose as well as a K&N flat panel filter. As dyno tested, this mod alone will add 80 wheel horsepower bumping the boost in 3rd gear and up to 1.0bar! Mike says, “You were right = A+. It was worth the wait. Wow! It has much better throttle response, builds boost much quicker and is a monster in the mid range and top end. Plus, it idles and runs just as smoothly if not more so before the boost comes on. I love it!”

Porsche 997.2 Turbo 2010+ ECU Flash Tuning
Porsche 997.2 Turbo – $2295
Stock Crank Power – 500HP
Mustang AWD Dyno Test – 435hp/447ft/lbs
Tuned Crank Power – 575HP
Mustang AWD Dyno Test – 486hp/501ft/lbs
- 8.39sec 60-130mph time
- 0-60mph time of 3.08sec
- 1/4mile time of 11.29sec at 127mph
- Top Speed of 196mph in only 1.3miles

The test car was a PDK running on 91octane fuel with an ambient temperature of about 95F outside. From the factory, the car comes with 500 horsepower to the crank and our baseline done 4 days prior was at 435awhp. Typically the Mustang AWD Dyno has about a 20-25% drivetrain loss when tested. 20% of 500 is 400whp and this car definitely exceeded that. Once we flashed the 997.2 Turbo through the OBDII port, the car gained 50 all wheel horsepower and 54ft/lbs of torque bringing the car to 486awhp and 501 ft/lbs of torque. This test was also done with a stock exhaust system which is usually extremely restrictive. Stock exhausts generally produce alot of backpressure giving torque spikes. An aftermarket exhaust would gain another 20whp approximately. What you can tell from this dyno is that the performance from the Softronic ECU flash gives a huge improvement in the daily driving rpm range. Peak performance comes on at about 3300rpm and holds strong to 4700rpm where the power then stays consistant to redline.
Softronic has been able to flash the DFI cars since the 2009 Carrera came out. Now with testing completed and maps developed, the 997.2 Turbo can be taken to a whole new level. The complexity of the maps and tuning of the DFI Turbo is much different then the earlier 997 Turbo. With the stock car making about .7bar of boost, the new flashed file holds a solid 1.0bar of boost. Having made changes to both the fueling and timing tables, we are able to get a safe and reliable increase of power to the car. With their Flasher Client software, Softronic is reading a full 1mb of the file to completely tune the ECU. Other companies claim to be able to do this, but are only read 128kb and making global changes. The ECU flash retains your factory SPORT mode function, but also increases your boost under normal use. For those worried about check engine lights, there are none! For those running a high flow cat exhaust system, Softronic raises the O2 levels which will remove the possibility of having a CEL from this type of exhaust. Once the car is flashed, the turbos will come on much quicker and the car will pull harder to the 500rpm increase of the redline. The overall improvement of drivability makes the 997.2 Turbo even more fun then it was originally. Since warranty is always a concern, Softronic also provides you with your original file. With this original file you can flash your car back to stock at any point. If you go to the dealer, there will be nothing visible through the Porsche PIWIS system. Softronic can program your vehicle no matter what country you are from or what octane you use. We have different maps for those running 91 octane or 93 octane and higher.
What are the benefits/functions of going with Softronic compared to the competition?

Pro Skateboarder Bucky Lasek Tunes His 996 Turbo with Softronic
When professional vert skateboarding legend Bucky Lasek picked up his Porsche 996 Turbo, he needed to get power out of it stat! So he turned to Softronic where we flashed his 2001 996TT to gain 80HP! Coming from a Supercharged BMW M3, Bucky was used to linear power and immediate throttle response. The Porsche 996TT is inherently laggy till the turbos kick in. With the Softronic ECU Flash, his 996 Turbo came alive by giving him better throttle response, smoother power band, and a big increase in TQ and HP. In addition to the ECU flash, Bucky also added some Agency Power diverter valves, an Agency Power exhaust system, and a K&N flat panel filter. Stay tuned for updates on his project build and magazine coverage. Thanks for the support Bucky.

Flashed Porsche 996TT Puts Down a STRONG 417awhp and 480tq
We flashed a customers 996TT recently and had a chance to dyno the car today with some impressive numbers. To make sure all was safe and correct, we dynoed the car on a Mustang AWD dyno and logged the boost pressure with our Durametric tool. Doing a 3rd gear pull, the boost was spot on at 1.0bar through our datalogs. Generally a flashed 996TT makes about 410awhp and 415tq. For some ODD reason, this 996TT made 480ft/lbs of torque and 417awhp. So… Thought we would share the dyno, the Softronic Tuning experience, and the picture.
Car has Softronic ECU Flash, Agency Power DV’s, Silicone FHose, K&N Flat Panel.
