The 2008 Porsche Cayman S is a Tiptronic that runs on 91octane. As soon as the car came here, we did a baseline on our Mustang Dyno. Our baseline run yielded 217rwhp and 197ft/lbs of torque. Our Stage 2 mods consisted of the Softronic Racing Plenum with ECU Flash and a complete exhaust system with catless race headers. The plenum kit uses a larger throttlebody to improve the airflow coming into the engine. To fully take advantage of this, Softronic does a custom ECU tune to alter the fuel and timing maps to account for the additional air flow. Like all normally aspirated vehicles, a good balanced exhaust system definitely helps out as well. Softronic alters the limits on the O2 sensors to not throw a CEL from this catless setup. With all the new mods on, we did a follow up dyno. With all other variables kept consistant, the car made 252rwhp and 217ft/lbs of torque. That is a 35rwhp and 20ft/lbs of torque gain. Typically there is a 10-15% drivetrain loss on the Mustang dyno and since this is a Tiptronic and on 91octane, the results would be even great with a 6spd on 93octane. Overall dramatic driveability improvement and much better sound!

Overall drivability good, no issues at all, just more power. I need some decent weather to shake it down all the way, but the flash seems to have worked just fine.”

Thanks for the support!

Check out these pictures of our customer Mike and his Porsche 996 Turbo during the Softronic ECU Flash process. Mike dropped in the tune file along with a set of Agency Power diverter valves and silicone f-hose as well as a K&N flat panel filter. As dyno tested, this mod alone will add 80 wheel horsepower bumping the boost in 3rd gear and up to 1.0bar! Mike says, “You were right = A+. It was worth the wait. Wow! It has much better throttle response, builds boost much quicker and is a monster in the mid range and top end. Plus, it idles and runs just as smoothly if not more so before the boost comes on. I love it!”

The 2007-2009 Porsche 997 Turbo has been a huge success for Softronic. As one of the first companies to be able to flash through the OBDII port, the performance gain and convenience of the Softronic flash has proven itself. Now with the new 2010 DFI 997.2 Turbo out, more power can be pulled from that car too. The 6 cylinder, 3.8L engine offers much more to gain then what is in the 500HP engine of the PDK or 6speed cars. Softronic is one of the ONLY companies able to flash DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) cars through the OBDII port. In fact for this ECU Flash we provide you FREE of charge the Durametric Basic Cable with this flash. All DFI cars require you to clear codes once you flash the car. You can see the HOW TO here. And of course like all Softronic ECU Flashes, we provide you with the True Original File from your car as well as your new Tuned file so you don’t have to worry about warranty. Not sure about the warranty affects? Read Here. So what will the ECU flash do for me… Gain 50 wheel horsepower and 54ft/lbs of torque!

The test car was a PDK running on 91octane fuel with an ambient temperature of about 95F outside. From the factory, the car comes with 500 horsepower to the crank and our baseline done 4 days prior was at 435awhp. Typically the Mustang AWD Dyno has about a 20-25% drivetrain loss when tested. 20% of 500 is 400whp and this car definitely exceeded that. Once we flashed the 997.2 Turbo through the OBDII port, the car gained 50 all wheel horsepower and 54ft/lbs of torque bringing the car to 486awhp and 501 ft/lbs of torque. This test was also done with a stock exhaust system which is usually extremely restrictive. Stock exhausts generally produce alot of backpressure giving torque spikes. An aftermarket exhaust would gain another 20whp approximately. What you can tell from this dyno is that the performance from the Softronic ECU flash gives a huge improvement in the daily driving rpm range. Peak performance comes on at about 3300rpm and holds strong to 4700rpm where the power then stays consistant to redline.

Softronic has been able to flash the DFI cars since the 2009 Carrera came out. Now with testing completed and maps developed, the 997.2 Turbo can be taken to a whole new level. The complexity of the maps and tuning of the DFI Turbo is much different then the earlier 997 Turbo. With the stock car making about .7bar of boost, the new flashed file holds a solid 1.0bar of boost. Having made changes to both the fueling and timing tables, we are able to get a safe and reliable increase of power to the car. With their Flasher Client software, Softronic is reading a full 1mb of the file to completely tune the ECU. Other companies claim to be able to do this, but are only read 128kb and making global changes. The ECU flash retains your factory SPORT mode function, but also increases your boost under normal use. For those worried about check engine lights, there are none! For those running a high flow cat exhaust system, Softronic raises the O2 levels which will remove the possibility of having a CEL from this type of exhaust. Once the car is flashed, the turbos will come on much quicker and the car will pull harder to the 500rpm increase of the redline. The overall improvement of drivability makes the 997.2 Turbo even more fun then it was originally. Since warranty is always a concern, Softronic also provides you with your original file. With this original file you can flash your car back to stock at any point. If you go to the dealer, there will be nothing visible through the Porsche PIWIS system. Softronic can program your vehicle no matter what country you are from or what octane you use. We have different maps for those running 91 octane or 93 octane and higher.

Your car can be flashed at your convenience from the comfort of your own garage.

Softronic reflashing is done via a Client Cable that is connected to the OBDII port. The customer simply plugs the cable into the car and reads the file with a laptop per the instructions with the cable. Once the file is downloaded, it is emailed to the Softronic secure server where the file is tuned and then emailed back to the client. The client simply uploads the file and they are done. Total process is about 1 hour.

When professional vert skateboarding legend Bucky Lasek picked up his Porsche 996 Turbo, he needed to get power out of it stat! So he turned to Softronic where we flashed his 2001 996TT to gain 80HP! Coming from a Supercharged BMW M3, Bucky was used to linear power and immediate throttle response. The Porsche 996TT is inherently laggy till the turbos kick in. With the Softronic ECU Flash, his 996 Turbo came alive by giving him better throttle response, smoother power band, and a big increase in TQ and HP. In addition to the ECU flash, Bucky also added some Agency Power diverter valves, an Agency Power exhaust system, and a K&N flat panel filter. Stay tuned for updates on his project build and magazine coverage. Thanks for the support Bucky.

We flashed a customers 996TT recently and had a chance to dyno the car today with some impressive numbers. To make sure all was safe and correct, we dynoed the car on a Mustang AWD dyno and logged the boost pressure with our Durametric tool. Doing a 3rd gear pull, the boost was spot on at 1.0bar through our datalogs. Generally a flashed 996TT makes about 410awhp and 415tq. For some ODD reason, this 996TT made 480ft/lbs of torque and 417awhp. So… Thought we would share the dyno, the Softronic Tuning experience, and the picture.

Car has Softronic ECU Flash, Agency Power DV’s, Silicone FHose, K&N Flat Panel.

Like its predeccessors, the new 2010 997.2 GT3 is quite a beast. Making 435bhp and 316ft/lbs of torque, it is already a monster. To achieve such a feat, no part of the powertrain was left untouched. The seven oil pumps of the dry sump lubrication system were put on a strict diet as were the air-con compressor and dual mass flywheel. Forged pistons, titanium connecting rods, hollow camshafts, and special lightweight valves and cup tappets not only reduce mass, they allow for a maximum engine speed of 8250rpm — 100rpm higher than the previous GT3.

Then there is the complex exhaust system; though composed of a complicated arrangement of fan-type manifolds, boxy catalytic convertors, and presilencers connected via ECU controlled butterfly valves to a single transverse mounted muffler, the system weighs 1 kilogram less than the older system on the previous GT3. What’s more, the new system significantly reduces back pressure and adds 20Nm of performance (and that deep bass roar) at the push of a dash mounted sport button.

All of this is furthered by the tuning of Softronic adjusting the entire 1mb of the timing and fuel maps via the OBDII port. Like all Softronic maps, you are able to keep your original map to load back to stock at any time. The new tuned file is done for either 91 or 93 octane and automatically adjusts for race gas which advances the timing. The Softronic ECU Flash for the 997.2 GT takes your car to an incredible 355hp and 337ft/lbs of torque.

The 2010 GT3 is one incredible street/track car. As you rev past 2000 rpms, the exquisit sound coming from the back of the car is a like a symphony of horses ready to trample anything in its path. Jumping up from the previous 3.6L GT3, the 997.2 GT3 has a 3.8L engine with a complete dry sump oil system like the 997 Turbo. Most of the engine changes are purely cosmetic and are no different when it comes to tuning the cars computer. Softronic steps in with their fine tuning to focuses on improving the cars power curve. With some additional programming to adjust the cars timing and air fuel mixtures, Softronic is able to gain 20 horsepower to the crank and 21ft/lbs of torque.

Tuned Power – 455HP and 337ft/lbs

Softronic requires the 997.2 3.8L GT3 ECU to be mailed in for flashing. The ECU flash will alter your fuel and timing maps to give you a very linear increase over stock. For those worried about check engine lights, there are none! For those running a high flow cat or straight pipe exhaust systems, Softronic raises the O2 levels which will remove the possibility of having a CEL from this type of exhaust. Once the car is flashed, the low end torque and throttle response will be much improved. The mid-range of the RPM band will feel stronger as well. The overall improvement of drivability makes the 997.2 GT3 even more fun then it was originally. We have different maps for those running 91 octane or 93 octane and higher. We have tested this software in many competition venues with nothing but positive results.

The 2009 and up Porsche 987.2 Cayman or Boxster is a big change over previous models. The new 987 has switched from a Bosch ECU to now running a Siemens SDI system. The transmission can be had in a standard 6 speed manual or the new PDK transmission to compete with the GTR, M3, and others. Softronic has spent time engineering and developing software for the new DFI cars and is one of the only tuners in the world that can offer an ECU flash via the OBDII port. With some additional programming to adjust the cars timing and air fuel mixtures, Softronic is able to gain performance on both the 2.9L and the 3.4L 987.

3.4L Stock Power – 320HP and 272ft/lbs of Torque
Tuned Power – 335HP and 286ft/lbs of Torque
Tuned w/Exhaust – 347HP and 296ft/lbs of Torque

Softronic flashes the 987.2 Boxster or Cayman through the OBDII port of the car. With their Flasher Client software, they are reading a full 1mb of the file to completely tune the ECU. Other companies claim to be able to do this, but are only read 128kb and making global changes. The overall improvement of drivability makes the 997.2 Carrera even more fun then it was originally.

What are the benefits/functions of going with Softronic compared to the competition?

Softronic does not require the removal of your ECU from the car. There is no down time at all.

Reflashing is done according to the vehicles octane level of pump gas and modifications are taken into account (Intake, Headers, Exhaust) to enhance power gains.

For this ECU Flash we provide you FREE of charge the Durametric Basic Cable with this flash. All DFI cars require you to clear codes once you flash the car. You can see the HOW TO here.
