Softronic Racing Plenum Kit and ECU Flash Installed on 987 Cayman S

Friday, September 25, 2009 posted by SoftronicTuning.com - 859 views

One of our customers just sent us pictures of his yellow Cayman S from Malaysia that he installed the Softronic Racing Plenum and Software kit on.  The plenum is a pretty easy install as the main hassle is getting off the engine access panel. The plenum and throttle body are a larger diameter then the stock unit to give you a true 25whp when the car is tuned. The ECU flash process is pretty simple too. The SRP kit includes the Durametric Cable which allows you to do ECU Flashing in minutes, see the instructions here - www.softronictuning.com/installation.  The customer was VERY VERY pleased with the performance gain and looking to an exhaust now.  Here are some pics.

Concerned About Emission Testing for your ECU Tuned Porsche?

Thursday, September 10, 2009 posted by SoftronicTuning.com - 172 views

Many states have very strict emissions regulations that can cause you headache if your car does not pass.  Softronic is well aware of this and has developed their ECU Tuning to assist you in a smooth emissions friendly experience.  First, when an ECU is flashed with Softronic, it is in the “Ready Position” for the government workers to connect via OBDII.  No codes or faults are present from the flash.  Second, because of the change in air/fuel ratio’s on a RPM basis, idle testing should not be affected for AWD cars that cannot run on the dyno at the emissions inspection station.  If all else fails, Softronic always provides you with your TRUE and ORIGINAL file which you can flash back to stock.

Interested in Running Alcohol or Water Injection? Read Here…

Wednesday, September 9, 2009 posted by SoftronicTuning.com - 172 views

Water injection, also known as anti-detonant injection, is a method for cooling the combustion chambers of engines by adding water to the cylinder or incoming fuel-air mixture, allowing for greater compression ratios and largely eliminating the problem of engine knocking (detonation). This effectively increases the octane rating of the fuel, meaning that performance gains can be obtained when used in conjunction with a supercharger or turbocharger, altered spark ignition timing, and other modifications.

When tuning the Turbo Porsche vehicles such as the 996 and 997, there is a limit of what boost you can run on the stock engine.  Boost pressure is definitely what can turbo the power up, but if you are using pump gas, detonation can occur.  When asked if you need to retune the car if running a water/meth injection kit, the answer is no.  Since Softronic tunes off the factory knock and oxygen sensors, they are controlling timing and at any sight of detonation, timing is pulled back.  Water/Meth injection is simply a replacement for running race gas.  It allows you to run higher boost pressures on pump fuel without detonating.  Another good feature of water/meth kits is for those users running 91 octane, you can get the more aggressive 93 octane map which has more timing to give you more power.  If you decide to run one of these kits, make sure it has a good fail safe system and do not use chemicals that can be corrosive to injectors and engine internal parts.

Porsche 997 Turbo OBDII ECU Flashing has Launched!

Thursday, August 27, 2009 posted by SoftronicTuning.com - 1,582 views

After months of testing, programming, and engineering, Softronic has become the first tuner to give customers the ability to flash their ECU in the Porsche 997 Turbo via the OBDII port.  This release of the Version 3.0 software comes after 2 years of having to do it the old fashion way, bench flashing.  With a change in technology, the new 997 Turbo was not able to be flashed like the older 996 Turbo via the OBDII port.  However, Softronic has raised the bar and change all that with this release.  This is a first in many ways for the Porsche Tuning community.  The ECU Flash is total process of about 30 mins.  Once completed, your car will gain nearly 60 horsepower and 55 ft/lbs of torque.  All Softronic Tuning is based off the factory knock and oxygen sensors to ensure safe, accurate, and reliable power added.  With this new OBDII ECU Flash capability, there is no downtime, altering the main ECU box, or inconsistencies from poor coding or tools.  With 30 years of Porsche experience and the official data verification for Porsche Motorsports, you can assure that having your car tuned by Softronic will be the best!

This product is available for immediate purchase at $2795 including the FREE Client Cable.  Get more information by visiting our Porsche 997 Turbo ECU Tuning Page Here.

Softronic does 3 things different that make the ability to tune your Porsche 997 Turbo efficiently and conveniently.  First, Softronic uses a Client Cable that simply plugs into the OBDII port and then connects to your laptop.  All of Softronic file transferring is done on a secure server that Softronic’s Flasher Client Software sends the files to and from with.  This is necessary to maintain the security of your VIN and IMOB coded ECU and make sure that all files are for the proper vehicle.  By using this method, there is no need to remove your ECU from the car, no need to have additional equipment to flash it, and no need to worry about dealer warranty.

Second, when you receive your tuned file specifically for your car, Softronic also sends you your true ORIGINAL file that can be flashed back to your ECU at anytime.  This is exactly what it is, the original.  Others have a “stock” file that can be loaded, but it is not your true original read out.  Others “stock” file can be detected by the factory Porsche PIWIS diagnostic tool.

Lastly, Softronic is reading a full 1mb of the file to completely tune the ECU. Other companies claim to be able to do this, but are only read 128kb and making global changes.  With this superior ability from Softronic, you can be sure that each individual lambda and timing table is tuned properly.  You never had to worry about re-reflashing your car for basic things like race gas, exhaust, intake, etc.

With our Guarantee to our customers, the easiest Installation available, and Online Support, Softronic is the best answer for those 997 Turbo owners wanting more power from their vehicle.
